Period A (0-1 years old)

Cognitive development for your baby means the learning process of memory, language, thinking and reasoning. During this stage, your baby is also developing bonds of love and trust with you. The way you cuddle, hold, and play with your baby will set the basis for how he will interact with you and others.

Period B (1-2 year old)

During this time, your child is becoming increasingly more mobile, and aware of himself and his surroundings. Your toddler will also be able to recognize names of familiar people and objects, form simple phrases and sentences, and follow simple instructions and directions.

Period C (2-3 years old)

Because of your child's growing desire to assert his independence, this stage is often called the "terrible twos." He will experience huge intellectual, social, and emotional changes that will help him to explore his new world, and make sense of it.

Period D (3-5 years old)

As your child grows into early childhood, his world will begin to open up. He will want to explore and ask about his surroundings even more. His interactions with family and those around him will help to shape his personality and individual ways of thinking and moving. During this stage your child will be able to ride a tricycle, use safety scissors, show awareness of gender identity, help to dress and undress himself, play with other children, recall part of a story, and sing a song.

Period F (6-8 years old)

Events such as starting school bring children this age into regular contact with the larger world. Friendships become more and more important. Physical, social, and mental skills develop rapidly at this time. This is a critical time for children to develop confidence in all areas of life, such as through friends, schoolwork, and sports.

Each step is explained here very thoroughly. Back when I was a mother, I had to browse entire libraries, read hundred of articles and tons of books. I managed to do a very good job with my eldest son but that was possible because I had the time to do it. My second child was raised part time by me and part time by her nanny. I can't describe to you the faults that were inserted during my absence.

The result was: while my son is a very tidy, responsible, logical type of person I would definitely not be able to say the same things about my daughter. She was raised to be spoiled and uncommunicative. So by the time she reached 11 I had to hire a shrink. Believe me you do not want this to happen. It is difficult for your child, expensive for your budget and sometimes you do not obtain the results you desire.
