The Initiatives Of The Health And Policy Advisory Center

Can you imagine how it would be like if the medical sphere do not charge for health needs

? Instead of people going to scattered private venues, they now only have to head to a onestop center for all their medical concerns as all doctors are working in that same place.

It would be nice if doctors, like nurses are paid salaries by the government. And since they are a very small group, their voices do not amount to anything when the operation of hospitals comes into play.

In dealing with policy matters, only health workers and consumers possess the final say.

According to the health policy advisory center, a small group of health activists that shoot for medical care system's reform, this is the greatest of all possible medical worlds.

They have earned the titles think tank and propaganda ministry of the health movement. The health care scene feels the thundering voices of these dissenters whether or not the descriptions fit the bill.

It may seem idealistic to talk about free health care and consumer control of hospitals. Money is not the answer to this concern but the overall restructuring of the present health care system is.

Right in the heart of downtown Manhattan, inside a small fourth floor loft, you can find the center's dedicated experts three of whom are adept experts in city planning while the others are an anthropologist, labor relations expert, social worker and of course a molecular biologist.

These seven professionals make the same amount of income per week and have the same jurisdiction on various matters.

Their aim is to stimulate health workers and have them and other consumer groups to organize around medical issues.

This alliance is known to spearhead creative ways of informing people on their rights as patients as well as health financing by way of constant workshops and seminars.

But its main outlet is a hard hitting 12 to 16 page magazine that takes deadly aim each month at yet another establishment target.

For the newly established radical health groups, the current health problems the country is facing is due to the nonsystem of most medical delivery methods.

Due to the system's inclination on profit, expansion and research and not health care, many problems arise.

As this policy advisory center sees it, the medical care system, or what it calls the American health empire has three parts.

First, we consider the presence of the medical schools, medical centers and most especially the hospitals.

It is the physicians' interests they cater to instead of organizing the needs of the patients. Health care responsibilities only come second to prioritizing teaching and research.

We think that it is health care which should be prioritized more.

Second on the health care list is the financial planning, which requires much effort and thought. In this aspect, health insurance firms are indispensable since they pay around half of all hospital profits.

While many believe that insurance firms ride herd on hospital building and expenditures, the truth of the matter is that they are allies.

For example many of these regional directors are hospital administrators, too.

According to the center, the fault lies on this hospital dominated company's mismanagement of hospital costs and shameful implementation of quality control practices as they learned of how much the hospital costs have upped.

The health system's third part is the trade's industrial complex. The complex here is actually the conspiracy of doctors, clinics, hospitals, medical schools and all who profit from people's diseases, insurance and drug companies, hospital suppliers, laboratories and nursing care homes.

It is so easy to see the connection between profit oriented groups and the providers who are both just after profit. Executives of drug companies are usually directors in the hospital board too.

Most doctors are the ones who have ownership of many hospitals and health supply firms that earn well.

Moonlighting as consultants in hospital supply groups is what many hospital and medical school professions are getting into now.

But if the health care system is so well organized and interconnected, why then is it so poor?

The center responds by revealing the truth that most of those behind the present system are only concerned about generating revenue, expanding business holdings and real property and also research and education instead of prioritizing what it should health care.

The only means to attain such ends is medical care. But that is not the final chapter in itself.
