The In's And Out's Of Becoming A Live In Nanny

The world is a massive place, with a vast array of opportunities that we can take up at any time

, the only limiting factor on any of these possibilities is ourselves. If you want to do something in life then it is up to you to get off your backside and do something about it. If there is a job that you want then don't expect that job to come searching for you, don't expect things to fall into your lap. If you set yourself up for life to throw things at you then you only stand to be disappointed.

One career option that is picking up of late is the au pair industry. Most countries have a thriving live in nanny industry that allows youthful individuals the opportunity to travel around the world to a new location and experience the differing cultures and surroundings of this new home.

Obviously there have been a number of portrayals of families that have acquired a live in nanny over the years, including the famous films Mary Poppins and Nanny McPhee. However, if you are considering moving into the live in nanny industry then it would be worthwhile making contact with the appropriate authorities and agencies to ensure that you are legitimately registered and fully protected before considering moving abroad to work within the industry.

Before you decide to work within the au pair industry, it is important that you have realistic expectations of what you will achieve from the profession. You won't become rich from working within the industry, but you will be presented with opportunities that you won't get through other jobs. Whilst working with your host family you can expect to receive free lodgings, you can also expect to get all of your bills included so you won't have to pay for electricity, water or gas.

Obviously this still leaves you in the situation when you will be in a new country without any earnings. Thankfully you will also receive a small wage from your host family that will allow you to explore your new surroundings.

For all of this, you will be expected to offer the following services as a live in nanny. Obviously your main responsibility will be to look after the host families children, but you may also be tasked with performing some of the household duties.

Becoming a live in nanny can provide you with fantastic opportunities and broaden your horizon, so it is something you should certainly consider if you are considering your options in 2010.
