The Interesting History Of The Resolute Desk

The Resolute desk has used in the Oval Office since President Rutherford Hayes

The story was when Kennedy was stranded in the Solomon Islands when he served as commander of the PT19, he carved an SOS message that reads "NAURO ISL...COMMANDER...NATIVE KNOWS POS'IT...HE CAN PILOT...11 ALIVE...NEED SMALL BOAT...KENNEDY" on a coconut shell. He asked two natives to bring the shell to PT base and they were rescued. Later he encased the shell in wood and polished it well to become a work of art that serves as paperweight on the Resolute Desk.
