The Internet: Not So Perfect As We Have Imagined

As we all know, the internet is one of the most powerful tools throughout the world

. In becomes more and more popular because it does really have some advantages. Firstly, it promotes the cultural communication among different countries and quickens the development of our economy. Secondly, the internet enriches our daily life nowadays. Many types of entertainments which include going into chat rooms, playing computer games, watching movies and so one, are popular reasons why many people surf on the internet. Thirdly, the internet makes our life more convenient. For example, we can use the internet for research to get the latest news and information. We can also go shopping online. Whereas, with the development of the internet, its disadvantages appear gradually. Compared with the advantages, the disadvantages affect people more deeply. The disadvantages of the internet are as follows.

Firstly, it a waste of time, money as well as energy for us to spend too much time on the internet doing nothing but enjoy the entertainment. The internet expose us to many interesting items such as computer games, chatting online and so on to attract us, especially the children. As a result, many of us are addicted to the internet. For example, many children have internet addiction because of playing computer games. In order to play computer games, many children don"t attend class and some even steal money. Moreover, when children are online, they are easily lured by something dangerous. Many computer games teach children how to fight against and even kill others. Thus, it is harmful for us to have internet addiction.

Besides, we are often concerned with the disadvantages of the net to our health. First, the computer itself has a lot of radiation which can lead to all kinds of cancers. Second, when we spend too much time sitting before the computer, our vertebra and cervical will have to suffer different harms. Third, it is harmful to our eyesight. Because of these, many children"s eyesight becomes so bad that they wear glasses.

Last but not least, lack of protection of privacy is another major disadvantage of the internet. As people surf on the internet, they are constantly giving information to websites. However, such information is snooped and tracked easily. Hence, when giving personal information on the internet, we should make sure that the website is protected with a recognizable symbol. Whereas, a recognizable symbol does not mean our privacy can be protected. As a result, the internet proves to be not as secure as we have imagined.

Above all, the internet does really have many advantages which cannot be ignored. When we use the internet, we should be aware of these disadvantages and try our best to protect ourselves from being hurt.
