The Iphone 4s And How The Model Looks

Yesterday Apple unveiled their latest smartphone

, the iPhone 4S. This is the fifth generation in the popular range and includes some new features as well as some improved specification. Here we take a look at the design of the phone together with its high quality screen.

Contrary to popular belief Apple have left the design of the new iPhone 4S unchanged from last years iPhone 4. This will please many consumers as this model does ooze style and looks unlike any other phone currently available. There is a slight weight increase but it is so small it would be very hard to detect at just 3 grammes. Looking at the design of the phone and the body itself is made from two sheets of glass. This is a refreshing change from the plastic and metallic bodies that most other phones offer. You may think that the iPhone may be more prone to damage as it is made from glass but Apple have opted to use a toughened glass which proves incredibly durable. Many people forget that phone displays have been made from glass for many years so its not a new idea to incorporate such a material on a mobile handset. The tempered glass that the 4S uses is named Gorilla Glass and is similar to the material used on high speed train windscreens which makes it much more durable than you would expect. Not only does this material help the phone if it is dropped onto a hard surface but it is also very scratch resistant. This is perfect for the modern phone user who inevitably has their phone in a pocket or bag along with numerous other items that may scratch the screen.

The iPhone 4S measures 115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3mm and is one of the slimmest phones available. The phone feels relatively compact against many rival models such as the Samsung Galaxy Note because Apple have opted to stick with the 3.5 inch display that was used in its predecessor. This means that the phone appeals from a design point of view as it is not too large but at the same time boasts enough size to offer an excellent gaming and video playback experience. Apple are producing this model in two colour finishes, Black and White, and both of these models should prove a success with consumers. The black option maintains a more premium look whilst the white variety should appeal to a younger and more style orientated audience. An aluminium band is sandwiched between the two sheets of glass and this not only adds to the overall look but acts as the antenna for the phones various features.

The iPhone 4S may not be the complete overhaul that everybody was expecting but it still remains a phone that not only boasts high specification and an excellent interface but also a design that sets it apart from every other phone.
