Working in Costa Rica though requires one to have a working permit. Also, some jobs require some degree of Spanish language expertise. These are the following job options for expats in Cost Rica.

Real Estate Broker. This is a good source of income for expats with the basic knowledge of real estate agency. There is no requirement for a real estate broker license. One needs to have a car and access to a good property lawyer. Having good contacts and listings can only help to make this a successful occupation for expats in Costa Rica.

Entrepreneur. This provides options for the expat with a bit of funds to use while in the country. This can be done by opening a bar, setting up a shop or putting up a restaurant either of local cuisine or the food from back home. This is also quite complicated, as there are many legal requirements such as licenses, certifications and pay taxes. Also, earning a profit and efficiently running the business is important.

Call Center. One can either set up a call center business or even become a call center agent. There are many companies that have set up a call center business in the country. For a call center agent, the pay is often between $5 and $7 an hour, which is quite high for the country. As a mandatory requirement, an expat needs to have valid certification to work in a call center in Costa Rica.

Teach English. When you want to teach English formally, one needs to have TOEFL certification. TOEFL is Test Of English As a First Language. This can also be done informally by taking on tutorial lessons in English to help the Spanish speaker expand their communications skills. With this informal work, one can earn between $5 and $25 and work freelance hours depending on the clientele.

Sports Gambling. Companies in the gambling business are always on the look out for English speaking individuals for sales or customer service work. These are often advertised and work in the same level as call centers. Since this is formal work, it would be important to be properly certified to have work in the country.

Taxi Driver. This is called Pirata taxi driving. This is informal ferrying of passengers. Being a foreigner can help in getting more clients and having them sit up front with you can avoid being flagged down by police authorities. You can ferry these new tourists to the beach or be their chauffeur while they stay in the country.
