Nowadays there are holidays designed specially for single travelers traveling alone across the globe. No place is out of the question for any traveler and most of the magnificent places on earth are attracting people to explore it by themselves.

Traveling alone has its advantages. It offers one the freedom of choosing the activities one would like to do without debate. You will have complete control over your destination if you travel alone. This luxury is not available to travelers in a group of friends or with families. When traveling alone, you can do whatever your heart tells you to do without worrying about anybody else. Traveling alone can be relaxing, friendly and a fun filled activity.

Many people get scared with the idea of traveling by themselves, however it is an excellent way to unwind, relax and make new acquaintances with like-minded people on the way. If one follows the basic rules given below while traveling alone, it can be a truly enriching experience:

1. While traveling with a group of singles, please check the group size. It should neither be too small or too large. In both cases one might tend to feel uncomfortable.

2. Check the age group of the travelers in the group. If your fellow travelers are older than you, you might get bored and if your fellow travelers are younger then they might be hesitant in approaching you.

3. Do prior research on the places where you would be traveling.

4. If you want to approach somebody in a group of individuals, ask them politely whether they would mind you joining them.

5. Be careful about the place where you want to eat. If eating in restaurants is not what you want you should look out for busy places where other singles are dining. This way you won't feel left out.

6. Dress in an appropriate manner keeping the theme of the tour and setting in mind. Keep accessories and jewelry to absolute minimum; Try not to look like a tourist but more like a person who blends with the surroundings.

7. Keep a watchful eye on your valuables and money. It is advisable to rent a safe deposit box for keeping important documents like passport, cash, camera and valuables for safekeeping.

8. Always be approachable and have a smiling face.

9. Inquire at the hotel or resort about unfriendly places and areas that you shouldn't visit alone.

10. Keep a good book handy. It will prevent you from getting bored.

11. Ensure that you carry your mobile phone with you on your trip and make sure that you have local and international calling facility activated at your holiday destination.

12. Note down your hotel telephone number, local taxi, trains; local police and your emergency contact details and always carry these on person.

If you follow these tips, traveling alone can be one of the best gifts you can give yourself and you would definitely return more confident, rejuvenated and energetic.
