The Judgment Trap
Today I would like to talk about something that affects us all on so many levels and that is the concept of "judgment" and how it undermines our effectiveness in life and ability to be happy!
It has been with us since the beginning of our consciousness and works at the most simple level as comparison. In fact, it really exists because of the way we perceive our three dimensional world and the concept of polarity or polar opposites.
Judgment in itself is neither good nor bad and is a necessary component of living in a three dimensional world. It is the process of how we determine what we want and perceive in our reality by comparing where we are now or what we want with where we would rather be or want so it is the ultimate tool in reaching our dreams.
But the subtler forms of judgment can be devastating to our life's process and create a sense of separateness and uncertainty in our lives.
In our culture (what ever culture you come from) judgment is used to determine whether we fit into the norms of that society or not. If we are judged as "different" than what is considered "normal", we are given the label of outcast in some form or another and look upon as bad, odd or dangerous to that particular culture.
In society we are judged as safe if we are all in agreement with the current reality and similar in nature and the differences we all have are judged with the opposite polarity and frowned upon.
I suggest that it is the differences in people that are actually creating the conscious growth of our realities because it gives us the opportunity to view ourselves from another perspective.
At the basic level we are "taught" by society that we should all be like each other and those rules are based upon what is the current cultural norm. For example, in my lifetime I have seen various differences through the years of how the "ideal woman" should look based on what society, using tools such as the media, have given us as the program. In that time we have gone from the full figured (Marilyn Monroe) to the ultra thin (Twiggy and the current ideal) models of today.
This actual process of evolution in this example is not good or bad but the need in society to compare who we are with the current value system can be dangerous to ourselves in so many ways!
The moment we are judged as "not enough" or "too much" it creates "dis-ease" within us because the actual process of comparison destroys the truth of the possibility that we are in deed perfect in our own individuality in that moment.
Another danger it creates is that we can shut down or stop following our "inner guidance system" that leads us to our ultimate fulfillment in life and we can get caught in the trap of living our lives based on those comparisons.
I think that it is this reason that so many people feel lost, angry and unhappy which leads to crime and the ultimate crime, war. How can we possibly live a happy and fulfilled life if we are trying to be something other than our own unique self because we are told that just being who we are is unacceptable for what ever reason?
I will leave you with the possibility of asking yourself this question?
How has judgment influenced your happiness in life and your ability to feel completely at peace with who you are in this moment?
