The King Of Pops As A Music Icon For All Ages

Michael Jackson is a musical icon among multiple generations

. While numerous performers reinvent themselves to stay current with younger audiences, the King of Pop changed so much over the years that the Jackson who recently passed away barely resembled the classic Jackson we remember from "Beat It" and "Billy Jean."

Constant media coverage, rumors, and criminal accusations followed Jackson for decades. Yet for the most part, Jackson withdrew from mainstream society. Perhaps the burden of being such a public figure led to both his seclusion and his decline.

How many of us can remember wearing a single glove to emulate Jackson in his glory days? While most of us no longer want to copy his 'individual' appearance, many have continued to appreciate his music over the years. A new album is believed to have been in production just before Jackson's death.

Was it the music, the shock value, or both, that kept Jackson's fans coming back for more through numerous generations? Fans of his music mourned his death last summer and even critics reflected on the tragedy.

Jackson's last recorded performance, a rehearsal for a planned world tour, is not available on the movie "This Is It." which was recently released on video. Fans will be happy to have one last performance given by the King of Pop.

Reviews of "This Is It" have been very positive. Even critics of the pop icon have commented that Jackson's performance brought back memories of the more classic Jackson performances of decades past.

With outstanding vocals and awe-inspiring dancing, it is hard to believe that the performer in this movie lived a life of chronic pain and was believed to be very weak. Clearly he gave the performance everything he had.

An unusual aspect of this movie is its' real footage. Because it was merely a recorded performance, the viewer gets the real deal - all the impact without all the effects. Whether you are a fan, a critic, or just a lover of music, you really must see this film.
