With the lottery being played in most countries around the world, a little knowledge of how the numbers work, will help you when you come to pick your numbers. I'm not saying by reading this article you will win a prize every draw but, I hope it will give you an insight into what the numbers are all about. Lets take a lottery that uses 49 numbers. When you break the numbers down into groups, 1's, 10's, 20's, 30's, and finally the 40's. You will see that the 49 numbers contains five groups in total. Because of this, one of the groups must produce a minimum of two numbers, to make up the sixth number drawn, in a lottery where you have to select six numbers. Every six numbers that are drawn, can either represent an odd number or, an even number, example: 3=11=24=28=33=45. This combination contains 4 odd and 2 even numbers, which equals the even number 144. A combination that contains 4 even and 2 odd numbers, also equals an even number. There are seven combinations of odd and even numbers that could be drawn, the other five being, the 6 odd or 6 even combination. The 5 odd 1 even or, the 5 even 1 odd combination, and finally, the 3 odd and 3 even combination. Out of the seven combinations in total, four represent an even number while, the other three represent an odd number. Now, how can this little piece of information help you when you come to pick your six numbers for the lottery? From now on keep a list of the numbers that are drawn every draw, add the six numbers together to see if it is an odd or an even number. At the side of the numbers, enter either a O for an odd number or, a E for an even number. If the last four draws produced an odd number when you added the numbers together, the laws of average would suggest that the next draw could well be an even number, pick your numbers accordingly! One thing I should point out is, when you pick your numbers, add them together and see what you get. If your six numbers add up to a whole number, lets say 120, 130 etc, change on or more of the numbers. Even though every number stems from a whole number, a whole number would be the least likely of the numbers to be drawn.
