The Many Uses Of Specialty Paper
In the day of computer graphics and printable paper people often neglect specialty paper and envelopes
. Both are important to having a home well-stocked with stationary. Having proper stationary is a great way to encourage kids to tackle creative projects on the computer and with their hands.
When it comes to making greetings and invitations specialty paper is the way to go. Remember that most specialty paper is printer compatible. That means you can decorate specialty paper by hand and print text on the computer. You can print on specialty paper and then use colored envelopes to doll up your invites. Some of the best invites and greeting cards are a combination of hand drawn or hand cut papers and printer text or graphics.
If you have young kids in the house, specialty paper is a must. Specialty paper is great for art projects which encourage creativity and hand-eye coordination. You can use specialty paper to create season house decoration, Christmas tree ornaments, cards to relatives, or just fun stuff to hang up around the house.
Colored envelopes, square envelopes, fun stamps and other cool stationary encourages kids to do some traditional letter writing. Computer literacy is important, but it sometimes overshadows the need to master traditional handwriting. Encourage kids to make pen pals, write letters to family, or write letters to American soldiers overseas. Many kids see writing as a task but when you turn it into a fun and creative project with markers, colored paper, stickers and other fun stationary it becomes not a chore but a fun activity.
Keep in mind that creativity is not limited to the pen and pencil. Keep printable paper on hand and encourage your kids to do some computer art. Even using simple programs like MS paint allows kids to practice their computer literacy and creative prowess. Before you know it your child will be a master of Photoshop and InDesign. Print out their computerized masterpieces for the fridge to let them know their work is valued.
Don't think that these materials are only for the kids. When was the last time you wrote a handwritten letter to a friend or loved one? It's a great way to reach out and it's a lot more personal than email. Why not take the time to write a love note on fancy specialty paper? The person who receives it is sure to appreciate the gesture. Besides, who has ever heard of a love email?
