The Market Makes Everyone Humble. Whether They Want It Or Not

You know one thing that I really love about the stock market? I love its ability to take those that walk with their noses high - those who believe they can and will beat anything that come their way and smash them! The stock market does not care how smart or intelligent you are. There are so many other factors that come into play when you are trading, that being smart is only a fraction of what is important.

Were you at the top of your class in University? Good for you: the market does not care. Did you open a new company and sold it for millions in just one year? Good for you: the market does not care. Do you see my point here? It is quite a good feeling to see people who believe they can achieve anything to see their feet brought forcefully back to the ground or even below, if this was possible.

Make no mistake, I do not take pleasure when seeing that. It is just to emphasize my point. Especially because I've learned all those lessons the hard way: experiencing it myself. But after I got caught on a big loss, I did not do as many do and started to blame the market, the market conditions, the wind, the noisy dog across the hall, etc. No, I've taken full responsibility for my actions, learned from my mistakes and moved on.

For one to be successful as a trader, one must be humble all the time. If you are not, do not worry, the market will soon teach you a lesson that you will be, whether you like it or not, humble. Unless of course you have plenty of money to spare and lose, but I believe that is not usually the case. So, put your feet on the ground and trade along with what the market has to offer you.
