The Mechanic Full Movie Online No Surveys Or Download
I've been sorely disappointed over the past three to five years with Jason Statham's work. Transporter 3, Crank 2, The Expendables, Death Race (not too bad, but still disappointing), Chaos (I liked it but it wasn't that good), and War (you would think based on the premise that it's two of the better martial arts actors in the world that this would have been phenomenal but it just missed on all cylinders). The only movie that I have seen of Mr. Statham's over the past few years that passed my expectations was The Bank Job, and I truly believe that movie flew way too far under the radar because it was better than most critics gave it credit for.

That being said, I went to this movie with a pretty remarkable record with being disappointed in the past four Jason Statham movies I had seen, almost as bad as the Cleveland Cavaliers 26 game losing streak. However, this movie is good 'ol kick your buttocks out of the seat, throw your fists in the air, gun slinging, blowing up cars, fun.
Statham in this movie is your typical Statham character, in every sense of the saying. He's silent with his words, but speaks out loud with his eyes and when he does say anything it's usually either something that makes you half-heartedly smile or something really meaningful. We all know and love this Statham. Truth be told, this is EXACTLY like his character from The Transporter movies, EXACTLY LIKE IT. He's hired by one person to do a job (usually dirty) that most people don't realize is being done and in one way or another one of his jobs pisses someone else off and things go to heck from there.
This is the Statham that we all love (as I said), this is the Statham that I've been wanting back for a really long time. He doesn't strike me as an actor who will be dolling it up on the big screen in a big time dramatic role and have the Oscar buzz about him, so he needs to stick with the roles that will satisfy his fans until the next one. Lets face it, he's never really going to be a world renowned actor for his acting skills, he's going to be known the world over for his kick butt martial arts extreme stunt coordinating movies that get your adrenaline pumping the right way by mixing all those with good story, deep characters (for action flicks), and more and more kick butt-iness. It's just who he is and I for one love him for it. This movie, totally the Statham we've been wanting for a while now.
The real story here though is in fact Mr. Ben Foster. Wonderfully talented actor, and the emotional scars he can expose just by that painful expression in his eyes and on his face is evidence of a star just waiting to burst out on to the A-list spotlight. One of these days soon, he's going to be a name everybody knows and loves, much like Joseph Gordon-Levitt is doing now. Ben Foster here has a character similar in the aspect of the pain his character is going through on a regular basis to his character in Alpha Dog. Really good acting here on his part.
The story is a typical story of hit men being hired by corporate snobs to take each other out only to find that the stories they have been told MAY have been the same type of lies they feed to the public on a daily basis. So what really did happen in South Africa? You'll find out towards the end of the film. Until then, all we really care about and all we SHOULD care about is how much butt can the combo of Statham/Foster kick in the hour or so between when we first learn what is happening and when we finally find out.
The added twist of Ben Foster's father and what happened to him throughout the film is a little bonus that gives the movie a little more heart and a lot more kick down the line. One of my favorite things about this movie is that when most directors usually try to draw a process or conversation out that really doesn't matter, Simon West FLIES through those moments while giving Statham's character a quick cliff-notes style narrative over those particular points in the movie. That's one thing that bothers me about a lot of action movies these days is that they try to hard to explain certain moments and characters believing that it is going to add "depth" to their film when in reality it slows the movie down when it doesn't need to and ultimately takes away from the film as a whole. Great job by Simon West to recognize that and move through those moments painlessly here.
This movie is just good 'ol fashion kick butt fun like it was meant to be. Sit down, relax, and pump those fists in the air with every pull of the trigger and explosion on screen, you are in for one helluva fun time at the movies.
