A developer is a person which has deep knowledge about at least one programming language, and who uses his skills to create new applications or to improve already existing ones.

Mobile application developer jobs are the most demanded in 2012. Studies have shown that in the first quarter of this year, the demand for Android developers increased by 300%, compared to the demand in 2010. The great demand is influenced by the rapid growth of mobile devices usage around the world. People are looking to stay connected and have the last bit of information accessible wherever they are going, and smartphones are built just for this purpose.

Developers arent only working to create software support for hardware devices; there are people which are working in other domain where programming in a language like PHP wont result into an application used directly by a mobile device for example. These people are called web developers, and their job is to create and maintain websites and to create web-based applications for different purposes. A developer working with databases must use his skills to provide optimum methods of collecting, managing and storing different data that a company needs. Such information regards client status, capital and the other resources of the company, reports about the past activity, forecasts, marketing solutions, and so on. When taking such a job, a database developer assumes great responsibility as the data he is handling is critical for the success of the company who owns it.

Finally, last but not least, the demand of jobs for software developers is still pretty high as it was in the last few years. Not only mobile device apps and web apps need development, but also programs and utilities that the average consumer uses every day. There is a wide area of activity where a software developer can work. The main areas are gaming development, security software development, operating system development and general software development. The main skills required for a successful software developer are creativity, quick learning and the ability to work on a team, either as the leader or executive. Even more, a software developer cannot choose to go on with every software development area mentioned above, as he will need to specialize on a certain one.
