The Most Enjoyable Radiohead Tunes For A First Time Listener
In my opinion, Radiohead is one of the greatest bands of all time
. With everything they do, they manage to redefine the standard of the future of music. From Thom Yorke's shrieking vocals to Johnny Greenwood's incredible guitar playing, Radiohead continues to amaze us as fans.
While my favorite Radiohead songs are constantly changing, here are some ones that are currently on my playlist.
Idioteque, off the Kid A album, is an anthem unto itself. Kid A was a revolutionary album for Radiohead and the first where they focused more on electronics rather than traditional instruments. Idioteque is the epitomy of this.
Radiohead is never a band to hide their feelings. They tackle all subject matter and are not afraid to voice their political opinions. This is most apprarent on their album "Hail To The Thief," which criticizes the Bush administration. While I'm not one to get into heated political debates, "There There" on this album is an awesome song.
Jigsaw Falling Into Place, off the In Rainbows album is another favorite of mine. It starts off mellow but daunting and slowly builds throughout the verses to finally peak in the last stanza of the song, where Yorke sings the title of the song to brilliant background music.
I Might Be Wrong is a great Radiohead song for a beginner to listen to. It is a quintessential song by the band and when they play it live, the crowd goes absolutely nuts. It is one of their many songs that gets me going at the beginning of a night.
If you saw There Will Be Blood, then you know how menacing and fantastic that soundtrack was. What you may not have realized was Radiohead's own Johnny Greenwood wrote the whole score and helped make an incredible film.
So these are some songs and albums of Radiohead that worth a listen or two. Most of their albums can be listened to start to finish, which is hard to say for most bands these days.
