The Multipurpose Venetian Blinds
Venetian blinds are versatile window coverings that consist of horizontal pieces of plastic
, wood or metal attached above each other by tape or cord. Light and air entering the room can be controlled in two ways. The first is by raising or lowering the blind. Lifting the blind causes the slats to lift vertically, starting with those found at the bottom until eventually all slats are compressed at the top. At this position, maximum exposure of the window is created. One can stop the process along the way at various points. Twisting a rod, which in turns tilts the slats in a coordinated manner, can also control light and air. As each slat overlaps the next, maximum privacy or light control can be achieved when the blinds are down and rotated shut.
The colour range available is extensive and is bound to suit any colour scheme. Examples include: whites, creams, reds, blues, yellows, browns and greens. Options are also available with respect to slat finish, matte, metallic or speckled, design, traditional or non-traditional and thickness. The newer slimline version of the blind provides a narrower width that is less expensive and more private.
Venetian blinds have been around for quite some time and have therefore improved with technology. The mechanisms for raising and lowering the blind, as well as rotating the slats, have become smoother and more efficient. The slats have become more sturdy and robust. The cords have also become safer to use around children.
Venetian blinds are very versatile. They can fit tall, narrow windows, short, wide windows, bay windows and even obscure and non-standard widows. The custom-made option enables most possibilities to be covered. Consequently they can be used in houses, units, and offices - or any place that requires window coverage.
Having blinds on a window cuts out light, and hence heat, within the room. Not only does this make it more comfortable to live but it also reduces the cost associated with cooling the space.
It is evident that Venetian blinds are an excellent alternative for window treatment. They are cost effective, functional, practical, easy to colour coordinate and tailor to the space they are made for and look very impressive.
