The Need For Speed In Parcel Delivery

People are impatient it is true, thanks in a large part to the internet and the instant

information and services it provides at the touch of a button and click of a mouse and that is why speed is so important in all other areas of life nowadays too. The theory goes that if, for example, an email can be sent from a computer in Ireland and it reaches a recipient in Australia instantly then other services shouldnt be too far behind. Of course people arent expecting parcels to be delivered all over the world instantly, that would be something akin to the goings on of the Bermuda triangle but they are expecting them to be delivered pretty quickly, whether this is overnight or at the very least within two or three working days from the date of collection.

Because it is possible for parcels to be delivered so quickly, as long as you choose a reliable courier company, it leaves no room for those smaller parcel collection firms to say that they cant, it is a competitive business with no let up. This is not to say that independent or smaller courier companies cant compete but it does mean that they have to really find their niche and be the best at the services they can offer. The need for speed in parcel delivery comes from consumers and businesses alike, consumers because when they buy things online they want to take ownership of them as quickly as possible and when they want to keep in touch with friends and family abroad they want to do so easily and quickly using a cheap courier service if possible. Businesses need to deliver products quickly to customers in order to retain their custom and not lose it to a faster or more efficient competitor and the speed of parcel delivery is a big part of this.

It is not good enough for courier services to offer quick or rapid delivery services and then not deliver, not only does this mean that customers have grounds for claiming the money back which they paid to receive a quick delivery service but they are unlikely to use that service again and will probably recommend that their friends dont use the service either and this is the worst case scenario for all businesses. The speed of word of mouth can be a good thing and a bad thing so the need for speed in parcel delivery as well as the opportunity to send cheap parcels, whilst important, should also be achievable and always backed up with excellent customer care.
