The New Motorola Milestone 2 - A Review

Motorola are continuing in there tradition of producing powerful

, functional yet innovative smartphones with the new Milestone 2, the successor to the excellent and very popular original Milestone.

This new handset is powered by Android 2.2 backed up with a massive 1Ghz processor. As you would imagine for a handset sporting such a huge screen along with a full Qwerty keypad, the phone itself is a little on the large size. Measuring 116 x 61 x 14 and weighing 169 grammes, the Milestone 2 certainly will not win any awards for compactness, however many users will see this as a fair trade for the excellent features that the handset offers. A massive 3.7" screen dominates the front of the phone. This display is a TFT capacitive touchscreen capable of display 16 million colours. A great 480 x 854 resolution produces incredibly sharp images. The glass used on the display is known as "Gorilla" glass, which is incredibly durable and resistant to scratches. The rear of the phone sports the camera facility which is capable of capturing images at a resolution of 5 million pixels. Autofocus helps keep the shots clear and the flash facility makes taking picture in poor lighting conditions a very easy affair. An impressive aspect of the milestone 2 is its ability to capture video footage in High Definition. This means film is shot in a resolution of 720P at a rate of 30 frames per second.

The huge 1Ghz processor on the Motorola Milestone 2 is an improvement over the 600Mhz chip found in its predecessor. Although this chip was by no means slow, it did have its shortcomings when it came to gaming and animated wallpapers. This upgrade overcomes such problems. The phones internal memory has also been substantially increased to 8GB, offering media fans ample space to store a variety of files. Motorola have also included a micro SD card slot which offers opportunity for memory expansion of up to 32GB. The phone sports a 3.5mm headphone jack, which will please user looking to utilise the handset as an audio player. This means there is a pratically limitless choice of headphones you can choose to listen to your music through. The Milestone 2 looks set to be a hugely popular handset when it is released, thanks to the popularity of the original phone coupled with the excellent improvements the manufacturers have introduced.

The Motorola Milestone 2 and the HTC G1 White are available soon.
