The New Nokia N8 With New Symbian Operating System

The New Nokia N8 With New Symbian Operating System

The new Nokia N8 could well be the handset to take the smartphone market by storm. It seems every feature on this model is that bit better than the avaerage, and with the phone being made available in an attractive range of colours it will also please those more concerned with style rather than functionality.

The new Symbian version 3 operating system has been given a much needed overhaul. The first noticeable difference is with the messaging centre, where SMS messages now appear in a conversation form rather similar to the iPhone. E Mail features have also been suitably tweaked, and you now have the option to switch between numerous accounts. Should you need to search for a message, new filtering options make this much easier. With regards to the look of the phones homescreens, this has also been improved. The user now has three homescreens where they can place their widgets, and all of these are linked to the internet, thus RSS feeds are automatically updated as are your social networking sites. Multitasking has also been addressed, and simply holding the home button opens a screen displaying all applications that are currently open, allowing you to simply choose the one you require. Thanks to the support of Flash files, the overall experience is more pleasing than what is experienced on Apples esteemed iPhone 4. The N8 has a superb line up of media features that include a 12 mega pixel camera and High Definition video capture, all of which can be stored to the phones 6GB of internal memory or to an additional sd card which the phone accepts up to 32GB.

The display on the Nokia N8 uses AMOLED technology to achieve crystal clear results with great viewing angles and excellent depth of colour. The screen can display up to 6 million colours and does so in an impressive resolution of 640 x 360. Another pleasing aspect of this screen is the "Gorilla" glass used in its construction, which has incredible scratch resistant properties which is ideal for many modern users. The screen is multi touch, thus the excellent "Pinch and Zoom" method is facilitated. Overall the handset measures 113.5 x 59.1 x 12.9mm which are pretty standard dimensions for a smartphone. At 135 grammes the phone is quite lightweight, yet feels well built when being handled, something Nokia handsets have a reputation for over the years. The N8 build upon the success established with the N97 and N98, and the updated operating system alongside the unrivalled media features make this one of the best handset of 2010.

The Nokia N8 and the HTC Desire White are available now.
