The Nintendo R4 Card Puts Classic Games Like Rick Dangerous In Your Pocket.

There are just so many games and apps for the R4 Card that I could spend all day

, probably all week writing about them, only to have to write again as new ones are released.

All it takes is for your to get an R4 Card to realize just how many amazing games and apps there are out there for the Nintendo DS and DSi - all for free right from the developers themselves. At last count I think there were over 800 or so applications and home brew games out there for anyone with the R4 to download and play.

How come they are free you may be asking? They're not illegal - no way. The people who made the game or application released it as home brew freeware, just as many developers release freeware or home brew games and apps for your PC or Mac computer. You need nothing more than an R4 Card for the Nintendo DS or an R4i SDHC For the Nintendo DSi to be able to take advantage of all of the home brew games and apps out there.

As an example of an amazing home brew / freeware game, we can look at Rick Dangerous. One of the games that just scream AMAZING way back from the good old days of gaming. It originally came out for the C64 computer to be followed by versions for the Atari ST and the Amiga 500. With its whimsical way of taking something like Indiana Jones, and making it a comical character that has to escape from the jungle he crash landed in.

And now, on your Nintendo DS or DSi XL and your trusty R4 Card, you can download and play this game for free - thanks to the hard work of the developers of the game. Every sound effect, level, and even the progression of difficulty is faithful to the original game itself - making this an excellent reminder of the games we used to play.

The game is NOT about Indiana Jones however, so don't be mistaken. I only compare the two characters as a reference, because Rick reminds me of Indy in so many ways. It is however a completely unique game, and one that should not be missed, especially considering the price of the game - FREE!

And if you want me to be honest - regardless of the age of the original game, it is quite possibly one of the best platform video games out there. But Rick Dangerous was the computer game alternative. People have compared it, written about it, but all you have to do is play it to truly appreciate this game.
