, the new Nokia C3 is well equipped for day-to-day tasks like web browsing and social networking. Nokia are supplying a cheap alternative to there E series phones and even some Blackberry's. It will comfortably handle online activities while it is integrated with a selection of messaging formats which include SMS and e-mail. The C3 can communicate via USB or Bluetooth and the music player supports an FM radio tuner.
The first things you will notice are the 2.4 inch screen and the four row QWERTY keyboard. The TFT screen can display over 260,000 colours in HVGA (320 x 240) pixel resolution while the keyboard provides great support for the C3's many messaging options. The C3 comes in either Grey or White but a Pink variant is also included for increased accessibility. The handset is made-up of smooth lines and streamline design features which in include the tiny 13.6mm waistline.
Nokia have gone for a simpler software package with the Symbian S40 OS; the interface provides a customizable home screen which incorporates various forms of information for the user; live news feeds, e-mail inboxes and social network feeds can be streamed directly to the screen providing instant access to a number of applications via shortcuts.
The C3'S affordability will appeal to the cash conscious, younger user, but business folk will also find alot of qualities within the phone too. A personal information management centre includes a calendar, to-do list and a converter, and business user will also appreciate the C3's e-mail integration as up to ten accounts can be accessed by the phone, with Gmail and Hotmail topping the list compatible providers. The inclusion of Instant Messaging will please the younger users as will the social network application which can be used to manage Twitter and Facebook.
Accessing the web is a speedy process thanks to the C3's Wi Fi and 2G technologies, the processor can be a little sluggish but all in all the experience is quite impressive when you take in to consideration the cost of the device. Nokia have supplied C3 users with some online sharing facilities which enable uploads of videos and images to sites like Facebook and YouTube. The camera has a 2MP digital lens and is capable of shooting both still photos and videos.
There is loads of potential space to store videos and music as the devices memory can be upgraded via microSD card up to 8GB. The music player is capable of playing a selection of formats while the video player performs much the same with playback in multiple formats. A 3.5mm AV jack enables headphone use while an FM radio tuner is in place for enthusiastic listeners. Access to the Ovi Store is a highlight to be thankful for as additional applications can be downloaded to enrich the overall user experience.
Nokia are finally catering for the cash conscious, shallow pocketed, tight fisted users out there. The Nokia C3 delivers smartphone functionality on a budget. With the absence of a touch screen, more effort has gone into the design of the keyboard and sticking to the basic navi-key for interface navigation means there is one less thing to go wrong. The Nokia C3 is a simple phone for a not-to-fussy user.
