The Nokia N8 is powered by Symbian 3 operating system and provides features such as HD video recording and playback, easy multitasking and more

. It also has integrated social networking such as Facebook and Twitter along with easy personalization features with three live home screens to configure with your own settings.

The handset features an easy to use email client which has attachment support for images, videos, music files, and documents in the Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PDF or ZIP file formats. It also supports HTMl emails and is a unified client for all configured email accounts including GMail, Hotmail and others as well as personal email accounts. Office documents can also be edited and push notification is also featured. A unified text and multimedia messaging editor and conversational SMS also provide a great messaging experience.

The N8 has a large 3.5 inch capacitive touch screen display with finger touch support for text input and control of the clean user interface with onscreen alphanumeric keypad and full keyboard. There are also dedicated physical keys for the menu, camera and volume control. You are provided with three home screens each of which can be customized with different themes, shortcuts, icons, menus and widgets.

Connectivity includes Bluetooth 3.0 for close proximity file sharing along with a microUSB connector for both charging the device and a high-speed USB 2.0 connection for file transfer and syncing also. Meanwhile, the HDMI connection allows you to connect the phone to a compatible widescreen television to playback HD video clips on a big screen for enjoyment. The handset also has a 3.5mm jack connection and internal FM radio.

Most amazing of all, is the highly powerful camera featured on the handset. A 12 megapixel auto focus camera with Carl Zeiss optics and an Xenon flash featuring automatic red-eye removal provides you with almost an entire digital camera besides the mobile phone itself. It is easy to use with the full screen viewfinder in 16:9 (widescreen) and simple touch screen parameters. The digital zoom is up to 2 times for images, and 3 times for video which is captured in HD quality at 720 pixel resolution. Additionally, there is a secondary camera on the front for video calling in QVGA resolution.
