, Nokia have alot riding on the success of the N8. The N8 has been charged with the mission to launch Nokia back to the peak of the mobile technology market. Nokia have gone all out to pack the phone with the technology needed to do so; a high spec digital camera, an awesome multimedia centre and top end support for online messaging and surfing.

Despite the phone not being as slim line as other top end phones, it is still pocket friendly and feels great to handle. The vibrant 3.5 inch AMOLED display has nHD resolution and utilises capacitive technology allowing for multi-touch control. The screen also has a built-in accelerometer which will allow the device to be switched to landscape mode, which is ideal for web surfing and message composing. Nokia have made the phone in a varied palette of colours with some truly bright options including Orange and Green.

Nokia users will be happy to find the phone uses Symbians latest offering in the new ^3OS. The N8 runs very smoothly and the 680MHz processor is surprisingly powerful and rockets users through pages and applications at impressive speeds. Straight up, you get a home screen which is teaming with information, it can be customized to feature live social network feeds, news feeds or even weather updates. You can also edit which widget based shortcuts you can access directly.

Nokia have given N8 users uncensored exposure to there Ovi Store; it is packed with downloadable applications, themes and other goodies for you to fill up the phones 16GB memory with. You can also add extra external memory via the microSD slot where anything up to 32GB is comfortably managed. The N8 has integrated support for a number of messaging features which include e-mail, instant messaging, SMS, MMS and social networking.

With data network support for class b GPRS/EDGE, HSDPA cat9 (3G) and HSUPA cat5, the N8 is pretty well endowed with connectivity options. Nokia have also provided a built-in Wi Fi receiver for fast connections while nearby a local hotspot. The in-house browser is Flash Lite 4 enabled which means the phone is capable of managing the majority of flash content it is presented with. The browser also enjoys the benefits of multi-touch with some very usable zoom and scroll tools.

Nokia have fitted the N8 with a GPS receiver; it delivers its services to the phones pre-loaded and downloadable navigation content. Features like Ovi Maps allow users to plan there routes and search locations. By using the Ovi PC Suite additional Ovi Maps can be downloaded.

The Nokia N8 has a mammoth 12MP digital camera to play with; it comes well equipped with some sexy Carl Zeiss Optics and a Xenon flash. Gorgeous stills can be captured with the help of auto focus while HD 720p video recordings can be played on the big screen thanks to the N8's HDMI out connection. The device has a highly capable media player; it can comfortably playback multiple audio and video files while allowing video streaming and podcasting. Users can also enjoy FM radio.

Nokia have produced a pretty big hitter in the form of the N8, loaded with awesome media support, social network integration and superb online facilities, the N8 is in with a shout for a top five finish in the smartphone race.
