The Nokia N8 has integrated GPS and Assisted GPS antennae allowing it to provide free navigation services through Ovi Maps. It also has a powerful 12 megapixel camera which is capable of image capture and video recording in HD quality.

The handset has a large 3.5 inch AMOLED nHD (640 by 360 pixels) resolution display with an intuitive user interface with simple finger-touch controls including an alphanumeric keypad and full keyboard for data input. With a menu key and dedicated camera and volume keys also, it works seamlessly between the impressive preloaded applications, including the integrated social networking features. The handset also offers three different home screens which can each be customised for widgets, icons, shortcuts and themes.

The N8 features a powerful digital camera with an impressive 12 megapixel resolution with Carl Zeiss optics and supported by a Xenon flash featuring automatic red-eye removal along with face detection software. Digital zoom is offered also, at up to 2 times for image capture and 3 times for video recording respectively. Videos are recorded in HD quality and can be played back on a large screen HD television via the HDMI connection featured. The handset has an internal memory of 16 gigabytes, with up to 32 gigabytes more from the microSD card slot, allowing for plenty of images and videos. Other connectivity includes Bluetooth 3.0 for close proximity sharing among friends, instant sharing on integrated school networks such as Facebook and the microUSB connector for high-speed USB 2.0 file sharing and syncing with compatible PC applications available to the phone.

The phone also features a music player with simple flick to scroll action through music and albums in your library as well as an integrated FM stereo radio for live news and music, and FM transmitter to share the radio connectivity with a car stereo or other stereo system. The integrated navigation services meanwhile, offer free pedestrian and in-car step by step navigating, plus WI-Fi positioning. The handset also has a unified push notification email client which is easy to use and combines multiple email accounts into one view. There is also a unified SMS and MMS editor with conversational view for text messaging.
