The Nokia X3 Touch And Type Introduces Die-hard Keypad Users To The World Of Touchscreen Technology
Nokia has another member of the X Phone Series that is less featured than the X6
but will definitely charm people who are looking for a compact and more affordable music-centered mobile phone.
Nokia offers the best of both worlds, plus more
The Nokia X3 Touch and Type has brought together two of the most sought-after features in a mobile phone the touchscreen and the physical keypad. Nokia has chosen this design because they know that the keyboard and the touchscreen have separate and defined functions and cannot be efficiently combined as one for now.
The Nokia X3 is a slider handset which runs the Symbian Series 40 operating system, featuring a 2.4-inch resistive touchscreen which renders 256K colors at 240 x 320 pixels resolution and a physical 12-button keypad. It is Nokias first handset in the X series to come with this combination. The X3 comes with a 3.2-megapixel camera and the now obligatory 3.5 mm audio jack and stereo loudspeakers for modern audio-centric phones.
Small yet packed to the brim
One of the attention-getting features of the Nokia X3 Touch and Type is the FM radios built-in antenna. This is something thats almost unheard of today. This means that the radio can play directly on the speakers without the user having to plug in a headphone to enhance signal reception.
The FM radio has RDS support and its reception is impressive even without headphones to act as external antennas.
The Nokia X3 is quite a compact handset. To keep its price low, its mostly made of plastic which gives it a fragile but cheap appearance. The device measures a lean 106.2 x 48.4 x 9.6 mm and weighs a mere 77.4 g. Being just 9.6 mm deep, the X3 handset is one of Nokias thinnest phones ever.
Despite its size, the device is equipped with a 5 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom, stereo FM radio, media player, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, social networking integration, and an integrated microSD slot which allows external memory expansion up to 16 GB.
A smooth transition for keypad users
Millions of mobile phone users around the planet have become very adept at one-handed no-look touch typing using the basic everyday 12-button keypad. The Nokia X3 Touch and Type allows them to carry on with what theyve been used to.
The device offers a generous display with clear icons and menus, and has retained recognizable keys like the Send and End keys. They have also added dedicated function keys for favorite apps such as multimedia and text messaging.
Sporting a burnished aluminum back cover, the phone is very easy to carry in the purse or pocket and comes in a range of colors that will match any fashion or lifestyle. The Nokia X3 is available in Lilac, Pink, Petrol Blue, Dark Metal and White Silver.
The Nokia X3 Touch and Type is an affordably-priced and upbeat handset which comes with a range of outstanding features. It is designed to offer habitual keypad users the opportunity to get the touchscreen experience.
