The Nokia X5 Is A Unique Looking Qwerty Phone
Due for release shortly, the Nokia X5 looks set to become one of the most unmistakable handsets on the market. Offering a compact yet highly functional mobile phone experience, it boasts a number of impressive features.
The shape of the Nokia X5 gives it a unique appearance, with an angular, square handset which slides to reveal a full
QWERTY keyboard from behind the screen. Measuring 74.3x 66.4x 16.9mm and weighing in at 129 grams, the Nokia X5 is certainly pocket friendly, and also highly stylish thanks to a number of different colour variants. These include Pink, Azure, Graphite Black, Yellow Green and Purple, so a colour to suit most tastes is sure to be found. As well as the slide out keyboard, an accelerometer sensor is also built in for auto-rotate of the UI. The 2.36 inch TFT screen boasts the ability to display up to 256K colours within a pixel resolution of 320x 240 resulting in great looking on screen content.
Users can customise the sound of the Nokia X5 thanks to the ability to assign MP3 and WAV files as ringtones, or simply take advantage of the built in selection of polyphonic ringtones. Obviously, ringing works alongside vibration so users can still be alerted to incoming calls and messages when they need to have their phone on silent. A built in speakerphone system makes handsfree communication possible, as well as a 3.5mm audio jack which can accommodate both handsfree headsets and earphones for listening to music.
The Nokia X5 comes with 200 MB of internal storage as standard; however the micro SD card slot has a pre-installed 2 GB card, which can be expanded to 32 GB by utilising an appropriate memory card. This gives users the potential to store their entire digital music collection on their phone, or a large number of videos, documents or any other files.
In order to connect to cellular networks, the Nokia X5 relies on both EDGE and GPRS in class 32 versions, whereas the internet is provided thanks to both HSDPA in 3G covered locations, and Wi-Fi offering a faster connection whenever local wireless networks are available. The handset can be connected to compatible hardware devices via both Bluetooth and micro USB connections.
The Nokia X5 features a very handy 5 megapixel digital camera which operates at a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 resulting in very good still images. The camera can also shoot video footage in VGA at 15 fps offering an alternative to taking still photos.
There are a number of built in entertainment features ranging from a selection of pre-installed games (along with access to a library of downloadable games) a versatile internal media player which supports most common video and music file formats, and a stereo FM radio player.
All in all, the Nokia X5 provides an ideal option for those who prefer the use of a full QWERTY keyboard but don't want to compromise functionality or style.
