The Obnoxious Beware Of The Dogs
Beware of the dogs
Beware of the dogs
These Dutchmen play it eager and old-school, no frills and no pretensetheyre of the brutal crossover hardcore variety, with blast beats, gurgle-to-a-scream vocals and bloody, horror-and-violence-themed lyrics.
The riffs are sharp, and wickedly memorable, with the most notably grand moments in the stomping intro to "State of anarchy" and the speed-picked midsection to "Period." The vocals are intelligible and the dueling approach well-done.
Im wild about the drum production (particularly the boxy snare and the obnoxious china crash), because it also fits with that rotten, ugly vibe, and it certainly matches the old-school influences to which The Obnoxious is indebted.
This particular brand of meat-and-potatoes hardcore metal is absolutely enjoyable in the moment, for sure, It is not easy to pick your favourite songs once the disc stops playing.
The obnoxious do what they do very well and with the utmost enthusiasm, and they certainly are trying to rewrite the book on their chosen style. Those looking for progress in oldschool harcore metal will find it here, and dedicated coresters in need of a dose of dirty rotten deviance should explore this without reservation.
People claim they are clones of the gods and have come to earth to bring a message. Others say they come from Hell, without delay (straight from Hell, so to say).
This band crawled ashore on the muddy banks of the river Styx in 1989. Five guys wished to cross that stream by boat, but Charon proved deceitful and tipped the boat (he couldnt stand their behaviour). So they swam to the other side and kicked their music out into the unsuspecting masses. It was loud, it was limitless, brutal and sarcastic.
The Obnoxious have returned from the dark depths. They have even brought their guitars and amps. Earth is facing another age of war and mayhem, so The Obnoxious wish to join the havoc.
Beware of the dogs is another raw slice of core metal from a band whose entire purpose is creating no-bullshit hardcore, blistering and grimy. Live the band is solid, and in its best instances, its damn great, its what youd call "forward-thinking." And Im certain their label Schop records is rightfully proud of all of that.
