White is the traditional color of most of the Christening gowns, as it is believed that white symbolizes serenity, innocence and purity of the child. The Christening gown is generally worn by boys and girls and the gown is believed to be passed on from one generation to the other generation.

The Christening gown owes its origination to Miss Del Agnew, who was the grand-daughter of Sir Philip Charley.
