The Origins Of Bentonite Clay In The United States Of America
There is a natural substance that possesses healing powers derived directly from the bosom of Mother Nature
. According to history, it can be found in Wyoming at a place called Fort Benton and was found out that they were clay deposits. As early as 1888, the person who was credited for such discovery was named William Taylor; so as tribute to his findings, the clay deposits where named after him as the Taylorite Clay. Little did the people in Fort Benton know that the name Taylorite Clay was already being used in England yet it was describing another mineral. It was therefore agreed upon that due to the news that the clay substance, bearing the same name, was already being used, Dr. Sam Knight, a Geologist for the State, opted it be changed into the Bentonite Clay. He believed that it was worth renaming it closer to the place where the clay deposits were found.
Research suggests that the Bentonite has two classes depending on the kind of elements that are present in the clay. There is the Sodium Bentonite and the Calcium Bentonite. The former is described to enlarge when mixed with high volumes of water. This property made it possible for the creation of sealants and waterproof agents that could still be found in Industrial Cleaners.
The latter kind of Clay Bentonite on the other hand, does not absorb water but oils and fat. It is often argued upon who were the early users of such clay. Bentonite as discovered, were first used by Native Americans as agents for bleaching that were used for cleaning. Aside from this, the deposits were used for their spiritual ceremonies. Whenever you think of Native Americans, the Wild Wild West is often associated with them and it was a good thing to know that the same mineral was used for wagons, horse hooves and roofs as sealants.
With the information that the Clay Bentonite was utilized for sealants or adhesives, did you know that it could also be used to take away huge amounts of protein that were found in white wine? Indeed you could find several uses of the Bentonite Clay that during the Chernobyl Catastrophe in Ukraine, it was used to shield the bodies of scientists from the ill-effects of radiation but if you would wonder if the Bentonite Clay was exclusively used for these kinds of events and things, you would be surprised that it was used as a personal care item. The clay was turned into powders, creams, mud packs and even sunburn lotion due to the soothing and calming effect it has on your skin.
That is why the Bentonite was classified as a form of body detox that could rid your body from the accumulated wastes. This Detox could also get rid of the lead or mercury poisoning as well. Now this kind of procedure is known as Chelation Therapy wherein your body is to be covered with the clay for 20 minutes to one hour.
