It allows your employees to contact each other at either zero cost or at least almost no cost for the company beyond the monthly hire for the PBX system but outside calls are nevertheless charged at normal rates. This is great for large organizations wherever it's not feasible to just lean across the corner and talk to the person you're searching for.
