The 2.4L powerplant produces one hundred fifty horsepower at five thousand one hundred revolutions per minute, and one hundred sixty-five pound feet of torque at four thousand revolutions per minute. The engine is a dual overhead cam design that uses unleaded gasoline in a sequential port fuel injection system. The engine sends its power through a four speed automatic transmission to the front wheels.
The engine is able to tow a maximum of one thousand pounds when the PT Cruiser is properly equipped.
