Last Tuesday was a bad day for the Padres. After having the lead over the Dodgers, they were not able to hold strong to it and lost 1 - 2 to the Dodgers. The game was very exciting and both teams did their best to win it but, the Dodgers were able to win it at the end. More than 40 thousand fans of both teams watched the game from the field.

Hairston, the San Diego Padres hitter, thought that he is able to predict what Lilly, the Dodgers pitcher, is going to pitch at him but, it turned out that Lilly's pitches are not predictable. Lilly was able to send some perfect pitches that awarded the lead to the Dodgers at the end of the game with a precious 2 -1 final score.

Lilly is an experienced pitcher that had just joined the dodgers from the Cubs in a deal that also included the transfer of the infielder Ryan Theriot from the Cubs to the Dodgers too. Lilly has a long history of impeccable pitches that retired the last 20 hitters that he faced. Lilly was one of the very good trades of the dodgers this season.

Miguel Tijada, the recently transferred hitter of the Padres, was able to score his first homer with his new team against the Dodgers. Miguel was very excited after the match and happy with what he had scored. He also commented that he is glad that he could do it in that way.

Bud Black commented on Padilla's pitches as well as Lilly's pitches. He said that their pitches were variable and his players were not prepared for such variety of powerful and fast pitches. He specifically mentioned the curved fast balls of Padilla that his hitters could not deal with.

One of the popular names on the disabled list of the San Diego Padres is David Eckstein. The team fans are waiting for his return from the strained calf injury. David had been on the DL for the last 14 matches because of that injury but, this week he started to run around the track, run laterally and to the backward and there were no problems with such activities. The next step is trying the cleats and getting some ground balls. This should take place the next week then he will start playing again.

Jed Hoyer the general manager of the San Diego Padres team is now looking for a new arm for the Padres during the Rotations. Jed Hoyer who was able to get Tijada to his team recently is now looking for a new deal. When he was asked by the press about external additions, he said that even if it is not our first choice but, it is still in his considerations.

Hoyer is also keeping an eye on the young starters on his team and he is monitoring their performance closely. The three young starters under monitoring are Mat Latos, his colleague Clayton Richard and the starter of the Wednesday game Wade LeBlanc. The three players made around 120 pitches on average since the start of the season and the manager is expecting a lot from them.
