A normal person without any knowledge in skin diseases will not be able to pinpoint the main issue. The only thing that could help you determine the disorder that has occurred on your nails basing from the symptoms that it has shown is a person who has the expertise on the said field.

- Peripheral vascular diseases - this disease affects the arteries and veins mainly outside the brain and heart. Person who has this type of disease may experience an inflammation and redness of the skin as the nail became damage and may break off easily. The symptom that is being shown from this disease is somewhat similar to ringworm that occurs in the nail. This triggers another infection of the skin caused by fungus which will gradually evolve as one.

- Old women - the texture of the skin changes as we grow old. The oil gland that is responsible for the suppleness and shiny appearance of the skin decrease its secretion causing the skin to become dry and dull. A dry skin is easily being irritated and easily tears off even from a simple bump from a hard surface. Any small opening from the skin is an open door to any type of infection such as ringworm on the nail. Old age also declines the immune system of the body that makes them vulnerable to any diseases.

- Artificial nails - women love to grow their nail long but others cannot do it without artificial nails. A preparation is needed in putting the artificial nail on your fingers but cuticle remover might infect your nails. Careless use of cuticle remover might cause wound that gives way to infection.
