The Perfect Home For Your Dog!
Most dogs are able to adapt well to whatever life throws at them. But you will
Save yourself a lot of trouble and your dog a lot of anguish if you know and understand your dog and what type of life he will enjoy.
Some breeds, such as the Staffordshire Bull Terrier often love an active family home with plenty going on, but some of the smaller, quieter breeds, such as Yorkshire Terriers, may prefer a quieter more relaxed situation instead.
Where To Feed Your Dog!
Find a quiet corner of the house the kitchen is usually best so that spillages can be quickly mopped up -and make sure no one disturbs your dog while he eats.
Food is one of the major highlights of your dog's day. Most of the time your dog will be fed his food from a bowl, and it is important that he can eat in peace. Make sure your dog is left in peace to enjoy its meal and there is no harassment from adults, children or other pets, which could lead to food guarding and aggression, or bolting food, which can cause indigestion.
Dogs Need Plenty Of Sleep!
Make sure your dog has somewhere quiet to sleep. Some dogs may still insist on
sleeping in the middle of the kitchen floor while Mum is cooking and the children are playing at the kitchen table, but they should still have the option to go to their own bed in a quiet part of the house and be left undisturbed.
Dogs Don't Like Loud Noise!
Dogs have sensitive ears, and should not be confronted by noisy music, shouting and screaming children. Dogs can be upset by sudden or long lasting noise, particularly those that are more sensitive to sounds, such as Border Collies.
Although some breeds such as Boxers and maybe Labradors, seem better able to cope with noise, remember that they too will appreciate peace and quiet.
Your Dog's Perfect Bed!
Whatever type of bed you choose for your dog, make sure that they will be warm and safe whilst sleeping.
The bed should be a little larger than the dog and allow enough space for them to turn around and get settled down and comfortable. It should include a duvet or blanket and cushion to make it really comfortable. Keep the bed clean by washing it but don't use spray cans of any kind as this can affect their breathing over a period of time.
