A studio apartment, also known as a studio flat (UK), efficiency apartment or bachelor/bachelorette style apartment, is a self-contained, small apartment, which combines living room, bedroom and kitchenette into a single unit, barring a bathroom. Studio, efficiency, and bachelor style apartments all tend to be the smallest apartments with the lowest rents in a given area, making it one of the most popular types of apartments around the world.

Moving up from studio type apartments are one-bedroom apartments, in which one bedroom is separate from the rest of the apartment. Then there are two-bedroom, three-bedroom, etc. apartments. These types of apartments, however, are much more expensive than the studio type.

Other than affordability, some apartments are also known for their luxury. These types of apartments are known as the garden apartment complex. Similar to townhouses, a garden apartment complex consists of low-rise apartment buildings built with landscaped grounds surrounding them. However, unlike a townhouse, each apartment occupies only one level.

Condominiums are another popular types of Philippines homes. According to many Filipinos, living in a condo unit is similar to living in an apartment unit. However, the difference between an apartment unit from a condo unit is its ownership.
