The Potential of Affiliate Marketing

This can be a very promising way to earn money with your website. If you're not familiar with it, keep reading to see if this is something you might be successful with on your website.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

First of all, what is it? By becoming an affiliate for someone who sells products, you just have to promote those products on your website. When one of your visitors clicks and then buys one of these products, you earn a commission for each sale.

How to Join?

You just need to find a good affiliate program that compliments the topic of your site. There is no sense promoting coffee makers if you have a website about playing poker. Success with affiliate marketing is getting a good match with your site topic.

Once you join their program, they will provide you with links that you have to add to your site. Place these links in appropriate places, usually within your text or as a graphic ad. These links will track any purchases made and credit you with your commission. You don't have to monitor clicks or anything. It's very simple.

You can look at the Ebay Partner Network or Commission Junction for some affiliate programs to try. As I mentioned, only focus on products that are appropriate for your site topic.

Dropshipping

Another variation of affiliate marketing is droppshipping. In this case, you are actually selling a product but you don't have to store any inventory. The wholesaler simply ships the items directly to your customers as they order them. You pay a wholesale price, and sell for retail.

E-Goods

Another "product" that you can either sell or just promote are called E-goods, usually in the form of E-books that can be downloaded by the customer for a fee. These are great options because there is no shipping fee.

Clickbank is a good marketplace for E-goods that you can browse through to see if they have anything to offer for your topic. Make sure these E-books have valuable content so you are not cheating your customers. You might even want to buy one or two E-books to evaluate if you want to promote them.About the Author:
