The Power of Stories

The stories of human individuals who overcome great odds to triumph inspire us

. Stories in their various modes

There are a multitude of legends of men and women who have triumphed even at moments when they seemed destined for defeat. They pushed on against great odds to realize their visions. From their experiences we learn that;

These people were Inspired

The Story is not something that is used just to pass time and to fill up moments that could be awkward. It is a tool to inspire people to move beyond their ordinary experiences into the realm of thinking the impossible (I'M POSSIBLE). Every recitation of the legends of our conquering ancestors should motivate us towards achieving greater than they did.

Without inspiration most dreams fizzle into nothingness. This is why the collective memory of our experiences should never be neglected. What you have endured will definitely be the answer to someone who wants to know how to overcome a certain problem.

These people were Disciplined.

Most often people spend their time focusing on what they are not good at. We cannot all be great musicians, Presidents, athletes, writers, financial gurus etc, but when we focus on our abilities then we will likely achieve our goals. It is easy to see the end of the thing and to make the wrong assumptions.

People who are at the top of their worlds are there because of the discipline and practice that they have put in to succeed. We ordinary people do ourselves a disservice when we think that they were lucky. All of us have opportunities to move closer to our dreams but sometimes we let the magnitude of the work involve deter us.

These people were Focused.

People who are focused spend most of their time doing what their supposed to be doing. Their determination is to move from point A to point Goal and thus they find ways to achieve this. They are not spectators sitting of the sidelines waiting for other people to live their lives for them.

In other words their time is spent on trying to finding solutions to problems rather than criticizing and apportioning blame. It is easy to get distracted by the "noise" of the world but if you want to triumph you have to close out some of the voices especially if they seek to trip you up.

These people were Dreamers.

The stories of great men and women teach us that they were dreamers in the extraordinary. They saw their goals achieved even before it happened and they took steps to make sure that it happened. They did not wait for their fabled ship to come in. They went into the waters with the ships that they built.

However, some of us are still waiting for "our" ships to come in and when it doesn't we will invariably become bitter with the world and cynical about people who make plans for their lives.

Most of these people started out as ordinary people but they were made great because they took their opportunities and did not wait to be given permission. We are moved by their greatness because inside we know that we want to achieve greatness. Our collective memories do matter.

Success might not be instant but when your story is shared you will definitely be considered a remarkable and great man or woman. In other words, do not be a spectator in a global conversation, write your part of the dialogue and share your story with other people from around the world.
