Scrapping a car is a process that begins with the car owner and ends with your car getting recycled

First, you as the car owner should contact a car removal company which provides services for scraping cars. It is important to contact several of these to get a good quote for the price you will get for your scrap car. The quote will show you the value of your car and how much it will be worth.

Once you have decided on the best company, you need to hand over the ownership details of your vehicle to them. The company in turn will give you the payment for the car. You will also receive the car removal documents, which include the date and time of removal, the vehicle identification number, the year and make of the car, and the amount paid for it. At this you have done your part to sell scrap car.

The car is then taken apart and prepared for scrapping. Most of the car is sheet metal, but parts like the battery, tires, fuel, engine and transmission oil and brake fluids are removed. After this, the car is ready for compacting, and the above parts are recycled for lead, plastics, rubber and asphalt, and the fuel and oils are separated to reuse in other applications.

Your compacted car, which has been stripped down to the metal frame, is taken to a metal processing company for further scrapping. The metals found in vehicles include aluminum, steel, lead and copper, which are resmelted and purified for other uses as well. By the end of the scrapping process, only a small percentage of your car is taken to landfills.
