In the spirit of my favorite blog Zen Habits; I have been in pursuit of a method to rid myself of my procrastinations
. I decided that there were too many tasks that were always flying under my radar, and that this unfinished business in my life was transforming into stress. I found myself thinking about these incomplete actions as I was about to fall asleep or when I had a moment to relax. No matter how often I thought about these objectives, they never seem to get accomplished! This is when I realized that by creating an action plan would manifest a positive result. I was really surprised how this list helped me purge unnecessary mind clutter. This could something as small as purchase postage stamps, or gruesome like tackling 5 years worth of taxes. I call it The Procrastination List.
Here is how it works:
Choose 5 things that you have been procrastinating about and create a list.
Place the actions in priority sequence
When you have completed the task at hand, cross the item off your list
Do not add more tasks once you have crossed one out!
Once you have completed all five tasks, celebrate!
This method simple yet so incredibly satisfying! I always looked forward to crossing off another accomplished task. I just completed my procrastination list and I feel so productive. I have reclaimed my relaxation time and feel better about myself. I plan on writing another list soon although I know that in the future I will not wait so long to get things done in an expedient fashion.
Speaking of fashion, I think I'll celebrate by buying shoes. Now this is something I don't need to add to my new list!
