The Pros And The Cons Of Internet Malls
Internet malls are where hundreds of specialty shops are found
. These shops placed their websites on such malls to get more traffic. Basically, there are three types of Internet malls. The first type is a category-based collection of links to independent websites. This usually costs nothing or a small monthly fee. This type of Internet mall is usually the most preferred among shop owners. The second type acts like a landlord and a construction company.
It leases a space to a shop owner and the more pages this shop owner has on his websites, the more expensive his rent becomes. The third type sells business opportunities. It gives seminars that teach a person how to be a representative for an Internet mall. When a person becomes a representative, he becomes trained to sell Internet mall sites.
A lot of people find Internet malls helpful in making their sales successful. However, there are also many shop owners that are not satisfied with the online system. For instance, small shops typically put up a website on a popular Internet mall such as Yahoo Stores because of the traffic. Millions of people visit and shop at Yahoo Stores and these small shops are certain to get traffic at just a nominal fee. In contrary, there also Internet malls that trick people to sell space.
They attract people to their mall by telling these people that they will get more traffic through the number of hits they receive. Hits are inflated sales tools such as images and graphics that are placed on a web page. But these malls do not comply with their promises and instead provide wrong information on the shop owners' websites. And oftentimes, these malls use contests and advertisements to bring traffic to their mall. By doing this, the people will just enter the contests and ignore the shops.
Another good thing about these malls is that most of them have autoresponders or RSS feeds that customers can subscribe to so they can shop more conveniently. These RSS feeds directly send announcements and information on shopping sales and discounts to their subscribers; thus, avoiding shopping hassles on the customers' part. But other malls, on the other hand, provide poor service to their customers. And unfortunately, most mall problems have not been attended to.
The rise of shopping online and the malls on the Internet provided convenience and wider variety of choices to both the shop owners and the customers. But the complaints again the poor service and performance of these malls must be improved and actions should be done. The shop owners must also be more involved with their websites to know if their problems have been resolved. Furthermore, the disadvantages that come along with these Internet malls must also be taken into consideration.
