The Protestors Raging Against The Banks For Their Foreclosure Operations
Occupy Minnesota was able to help a woman facing foreclosures by giving exposure to her story
. She ran a small business and lived with her father. The bank refused to give her extension from foreclosure. But when the organizers gave exposure to her predicament the bank responded within two hours!
The protestors raging against the banks for their foreclosure operations are running of welcome in some of the cities but there are exceptions. One woman victimized by the crisis has benefited from their operations. She explained initially she did not understand their objectives said Ruth Murman of Plymouth. She said, At first, I didnt even know what they were doing. But what they did for me is huge.
Murman owns a modest care centre for animals. She is now facing foreclosure on her house in Plymouth, unable to tackle her financial problems recently. She wanted her foreclosure to be extended but the banks turned a deaf ear and told her to exit by 31st October.
Nick Espinosa one of the organizers of Occupy Minnesota sent a representative to Ruth for her story. Espinosa said that she resided with her father and was the owner of a modest sized business. The group wanted to help her. They planned to give exposure to her predicament. They filed videos on many social sites and collected signatures.
Murman narrated, Within two hours US Bank and GMAC were ringing my phone off the hook trying to give me two extra weeks that we asked for in court. It may not seem like a big deal but those two weeks will really help.
GMAC was the servicer of her mortgage loan. In a statement to KARE 11 GMAC said they were trying to put in their best efforts and searching all possible venues to keep the people in their houses if possible. But GMAC declined to comment about whether the extension that had been granted to Murman had any connection with the efforts of Occupy Minnesota.
Ruth however has no doubt that it was this move by the protestors that made the financial entity talk. She said, It shows that if you stand together as a group you can actually get the banks to do something for you. It is a huge victory. The members of Occupy Minnesota are referring to this as the success story. Espinosa explained that the most powerful step they take through their activities is to convince the people that theyre not alone.
