The Ps Jailbreak - The First Ever Ps3 Modchip Is Ready For Your Gaming Pleasure!

. The PS Jailbreak has arrived. Some people call it the PS3 Jailbreak or a PS3 Modchip, but whatever the name, it's one cool little accessory. It consists of a USB dongle that needs to always be inserted into your PS3 console and then it will let you install games to your PS3 hard drive and also load the games from the PS3 hard drive as well.

Its much like the USB Modchips that came out long ago for the Playstation 2, that didnt require any internal soldering of any kind, and were just plug in and play type modchips that were so easy to use and install that they went off the shelves.

The PS jailbreak appears to be a similar solution. Just plug it into the USB port on the PS3 and you're all set. And then another USB flash drive so that you can then install your homebrew games and applications, and most importantly, your Backup manager.

A good number of PS3 owners believed that a PS3 modchip was just not possible, that the PS3 was just not open and unable to be modified, let alone have a product that actually worked.

What really has me excited is that the installation, if I can even call it an installation, is so incredibly simple, that anyone can do it, without any technicals skills or soldering experience. Heck, you don't even have to own a soldering iron..

To be honest, if we look at any of the modchips for the PS2 or even the original Xbox, they all needed soldering of wires inside the console itself, in some cases as many as 25 or more wires had to be soldered to tiny points on the motherboard for the modchip to do what it was meant to do. I'm stunned, and very thankful, that this is NOT the case with the PS Jailbreak at all. Its just plug in and play.

The backup manager software that comes with the PS Jailbreak is what makes all of this so magical. After you've installed the dongle, you also have to install a piece of software called the Backup Manager, don't worry - it's included with the PS Jailbreak from what I can tell.

Once the backup manager is installed on to the menu of the PS3, any time you insert a game disc, it will ask you if you wish to install it on to the PS3 hard drive. you choose YES, then you'll see the game install right before your eyes, and also see the progress of the installation just like any firmware update would show you how much time is needed or how much of the game is installed.

The time for install varies naturally, based on how large or small the game is on the disc, but Ive found it to take no more than just a few minutes for many of the newest games to install.

And now the fun begins. Once you've installed the games you want on your hard drive, simply load up the backup manager again, and you're all set and ready to start playing. Just click on the game you want to play, and it will load for you instantly.

I am finding it much faster to load and play my games directly from the hard drive. Drakes Fortune was always one of my favorite games, but one that took ages to load. With the game on the hard drive, it takes less than one third of the time to load the game and levels. Games load about 5x - 10x faster from the hard drive then they do from the disc itself. Youll also notice that there is almost NO load time during the game, between levels and such.

If you already own a Playstation 3 or are planning to get one, make sure you set aside some extra money to fix it up with the PS Jailbreak as well. You'll not only protect you investment of Playstation 3 games, but you'll also get to play the games faster as they will load directly from the hard drive.
