The reality for most of us these days is that Spanish banks are every bit as thorough and quizzical as their northern European counterparts when it comes to reviewing their mortgage applications. In fact over the last couple of years the situation has become harder as banks reduce their lending and cherry pick their customers.
And this is just the start of it. If you can actually find a bank that will be prepared to lend to you amongst the dizzying array on every street, and the language barrier doesnt get to you, then the archaic, esoteric and painstakingly slow system will turn you into a crazy, gibbering wreck.
