For example, if you want to add ESPN to the channels list of your cable TV provider, it needs you to make a proper deal with them. It is very tough for them to reach an agreement on your service provider, that you must abide by their Terms of Service (TOS) and Privacy Policy. If you fail to abide by these rules, there is no reason that ESPN will be included in your list of channels.

The agreement between a cable channel and your cable service provider will be officially made using an agreement form. The agreement form will be signed by both parties, and the ones that will sign the form must be the owners of the company. If one of them is not available, a representative will be the one to sign with the permission from the owner of a company. Both parties will sign a contract for a minimum of one year and a maximum of five years or more. So if you want your cable television provider to have lots of channels, then you need to approach each cable channel to sign an agreement. After both parties have agreed on their deal, the cable channel will now take action to connect themselves to the desired cable TV provider. If you are planning to include international channels, you can send a representative to fly on a specific country where a cable TV channel was established. This is one of the hardest tasks that a cable service provider has ever experienced, but there will be huge returns in the near future.

It needs a lot of investment for a cable service provider to provide as many channels as they want, whether it is local or international. They can see that customers are browsing any channel they want to watch, but probably they prefer English speaking channels. Some cable television channels in the US includes lots of international channels from India, China, Philippines and other countries, which their first language is not English. As a result, they cannot watch those channels because they don't understand anything about their language. Perhaps they speak English too, but not all the time. When you ask the big players in the industry about their investment on cable TV, you will expect that they spend millions of dollars to start a huge company like cable TV. One of the important things that a cable TV provider have are their relationships to the cable channels included in their lists, and their fellow subscribers who are watching their favorite shows in their cable television.
