Mozambique is country located on the southeastern part of Africa
. It's bordered by the Indian Ocean to the East and Tanzania to the north and Malawi and Zambia to the northwest. The country is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations and Community of Portuguese Language Countries. The country was discovered by Vasco da Gama in 1948 and colonized by Portugal in 1505. It then gained her independence in 1975 and proceeded to become the People's Republic of Mozambique. Mozambique is developing fast and shows a lot of progress in the economy's agricultural and tourism sectors. The official currency is called New Metical and as of 2009, 1 US $ was equivalent to 31 Metical. The new metical replaced the earlier generation currency. The country accepts Dollars, Euros and South African Rand so visitors should feel free to transact businesses with them. Portuguese is the most widely spoken language by around 40% of the population. The country also has very many religion groups such as Christians. Mozambique is the 35th largest country after Pakistan. It covers an area of 309,475sq kilometers and its size can only be compared to the Republic of Turkey. The country is divided into two topographical regions. The northern part contains the hilly regions and plateaus. On this part visitors can tour the Niassa highlands, Tete highlands, Angonia highlands and Makonde plateau that are covered with Miombo woodlands. The southern part of the country opens to the famous Mashonaland Plateau and Lebomo mountains. One can observe Mount Muresse and tea plantations in an area known as Gurue Zambezia Province.
