The Rise Of The Home Cinema System
There was a time when films were only seen as a social activity
, friends or family would meet and actually go to the cinema. However, in the past few decades alone we have seen a massive burst of technology sweep the world, and a number of inevitable changes came with it. Now, at the beginning of the 21st century a lot as certainly changed.
First came the VCRs, though they are now obsolete, believe it or not there was a time when these were the height of technology, and no doubt there will be people from certain generations with fond memories of the VCR. Aside from having to rewind the tapes, which could be extremely irritating at times, VCRs did provide some interesting opportunities. The user could record and play back whatever material they wanted.
The successor of the VCR was the DVD player, thankfully this eliminated the need for those painfully slow rewinds, and more importantly they brought a new level of quality to the table, although the full cinema experience was still a long way off.
Then there was the introduction of the flat screen TV, be it plasma, LCD, or LED, these were a great space saver and provided a bigger and better quality picture which came one step closer to the cinema. And it wasnt just the screens that got better, the speakers did too, however they still fail in comparison to a proper surround sound set up.
Finally we saw the Blu-ray disc hit the market, bringing high definition into home cinemas from all around the world. With all of this new technology it has never been easier to replicate the cinematic experience, and who wouldnt want to have all the perks of the cinema from the comfort of their own home? For anyone who hasnt got this type of setup, here are the main components:
-A good basis for a successful home cinema experience is a large TV. When you go to the cinema the whole screen envelopes your view, this helps to fully immerse you in the film. While you might not be able to get a TV big enough to completely cover your field of view, a large screen one will still help.
-Though it is not as obvious, the sound is of equal importance too and a surround sound system will certainly contribute towards the experience, bringing the film to life. Aspects such as panning should be apparent so as to emerge the viewer in the story.
-Finally, a Blu-ray player will allow you to play back the highest quality films.
