The Role and Acceptance of Media and Society in Bondage Role Play
The Role and Acceptance of Media and Society in Bondage Role Play
As a youth I like to watch detective shows more than any other type of broadcast. It slowly became apparent that I felt disappointed when the bound and gagged heroine didn't appear. A dramatic element, she falls victim to some dastardly villain and becomes a helpless pawn. With tape over her lips and her limbs pinioned by rope, she struggles furiously, but we all know that the hero is the detective who comes to her rescue just in time. In the back of my mind though I always knew it was easy for them to get free.
This was also a time when I read a lot of comic books and drew my own comic pages. Over time scenes of battle-hardened heroes were replaced by those of heroines made helpless by the villains. Super heroines aren't your average damsel, so the restraint had to be up to muster. I'd start adding more rope, often tinged with some compound or magic to intensify the helplessness. The gags became more intense as well. After all you don't just quiet someone with a sonic voice with a strip of tape. You shove a noise dampening device in her mouth and seal it in securely.
Then came my own chance at being the villain. My first attempts were thrilling but enlightening. Inexperienced with the ropes my girlfriends and volunteers would always get lose. The answer was of course to tie them with more rope and tighter. Eventually I got very good at people not getting away until I let them! I of course always do ... it's just fantasy, but the helplessness is a true part of that fantasy.
Where does the media come into play? I've already shown some media examples. A damsel is always good drama, so she will never go out of style. Even for comedy purposes this holds true. A popular news anchor was late for her morning shift. They way they played it off was to show a prerecorded segment of her bound and gagged in her dressing room. Now let's look at this a little more closely. She agree ahead of time to be tied up and gagged, filmed and then have this film played if she was ever late for work. It was campy and fun, but it does illustrate that bondage role play isn't just for the bedroom.
Society has provided me countless examples, but I'll illustrate just one for this article. As a maker of my own damsel material, I have an outfit that is all black with a black mask. A last minute Halloween party invitation put me on the spot for a costume, so I put on the outfit and told folks I was a shadow. A girl chortled that I looked more like a cat burglar which let to the suggestion that we play a robbery game. Rope was produced, and I would tie girls to chairs and they'd race to get out. None of them could, so the game was changed to who gave up last. You'd think the game would end quickly, but a couple girls were tied to those chairs a long time.
Interesting examples that the allure of being bound and gagged is not just for drama but also for fun.
