Ooty or Ootacamund is a town, a municipality and the district capital of the Nilgiris district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu

. It is located 80 km north of Coimbatore. Ooty is the popular hill station located in the Nilgiri Hills. Ooty is also known as The Blue Mountains. Ooty is dominated by tourism industry. Ooty is still a supply base and market town for the surrounding area which is still largely dependent on agriculture, notably the cultivation of "English Vegetables" and "English Fruits" grown locally. As a result of the local agricultural industry, certain research institutes are based in Ooty. Ooty is well connected by road and railways. The nearest airport is the Coimbatore International Airport.

Mysore is the second largest city in the state of Karnataka. Mysore is located at the base of the Chamundi Hills about 146 km southwest of the state capital Bangalore. Mysore was ruled by the Wodeyar dynasty, Hyder Ali, Tipu Sultan and the British Empire. Mysore is called as the Cultural Capital of Karnataka. Mysore is noted for its places, the Mysore style of painting, the sweet dish Mysore Pak, the Mysore turban and the Mysore silk saris. Tourism is the major industry, while information technology has also emerged as a major employer. It also houses the famous Mysore University.

One can reach Mysore from Ooty by road. The distance between Ooty and Mysore is 127 km. It takes about 5 hours and 20 minutes to travel from Ooty to Mysore. The places covered between Ooty and Mysore is Masinagudi, Gundlupet, Badanavalu and Nanjangud. There are private taxi or cab services. The cab fare ranges from around Rs. 3,300 to Rs. 4,300. There are small shops en route to Mysore. The road is thickly forested and is steep and one has to encounter around 33 hair pin bends. Hence, one should take care while driving. There are gas stations with rest room facilities.

One can travel by bus from Ooty to Mysore. The Tamil Nadu government has provided with good bus facilities between Ooty and Mysore. It takes about 4 hours and 30 minutes to travel by bus. One will come across gas stations, restaurants and hotels. The bus travel takes about 3 hours to travel. There are both KSRTC (Karnataka Transport) and SETC (Tamil Nadu Transport) service operated buses plying between Ooty and Mysore. Other than the government operated buses, there are private buses as well.

This hill town has a railway station that connects with Mettupalyam. Mettupalyam is 47 km from Ooty. A narrow gauge line connects Ooty to Mettupalyam which from where one travel by any other passenger or express train from Mettupalyam to Mysore by train.
