Though asphalt shingle roofs have been around a long time they have made major developments over the years
. They have improved as far as the ability to increase the weathering of the roof, but also the appearance has been improved as well. Because home styles change over the years, most believe that roofing styles should change as well. This has become possible through all the new inventions, materials and methods; however those old standby roofing styles, of asphalt shingles have made the same upgrades!
Dark Or Light Asphalt Shingles
Some have trouble with picking a color of their asphalt shingle roofs. They struggle not knowing if the color of roof will match and look as expected. Remember colors look different in those roofing samples or books that might have been shown! A good rule of thumb is to remember the following color schemes:
- Light brown, tan or peach color houses typically look best with dark brown colored roofs
- Gray or blue home colors should be complimented with a dark gray or black roof
- Any color home can look great with a multi colored roof
Much of the color of the asphalt single roofs is based on personal choice. There are some basic guidelines as far as what looks good together; however the color of the shingles has nothing to do with the durability or overall quality of the roof. Take time to drive around and look at different houses, to find a color scheme that would look good. Magazines are another great place to look to find that asphalt shingle roof color, style and design. Both fiberglass asphalt shingles and organic are both good options, however fiberglass are heavier constructed and hold up better!
